Instead, we marked 41 days since he left us. Mom and I spent the day together. 💛 We celebrated as much as we could. We did the things he would have wanted to do. We enjoyed the things he enjoyed. We ate well. We sat in the sunshine☀️ . We got to breathe in the crisp fall air. 🍂 I am so delighted that I got to spend the day with my Momma. We smiled. We remembered. ✨ This evening was everything I could have dream ✨ This evening was everything I could have dreamed of: to be surrounded by joy and embraced with love as I raised my glass and read “A Toasting Benediction” from my own book! Never in a million years did I dream of writing this book though. 💔 The hard parts, the pieces of my heart that were broken, the grief and sorrow that held me captive for too long - none of that was a dream. No one wishes to write a tale that exposes their scars and opens their hearts so vulnerably. But so many of the people gathered in this room for my Paris Book Launch held me together in one way or another. They pointed me toward Jesus and helped me to remember the God I once knew, and not the Executive Jesus who had been running my life inside of the institutional church. They were patient with me when I had nothing but brokenness to offer back and loved me with prayer, Thai soup, friendship, and a little champagne. 🍾 This project was LONG, winding, frustrating, and liberating. And now, it is here. It is full of hard words, yes, but it is full of prayers, benedictions, and liturgies. It is full of hope. ✨ My dream for this little book of mine? That it would reach the people who need it, that it would offer words of encouragement for those who need them, and that it would be a reminder of the depth, breadth and power of love. 💗 Ruffled By Grace is here.
